Questions
Getting started
What is Operator?
An AI assistant that lives on your phone. Text it what you want done, and it handles it in the apps and accounts you already use: answering messages, moving meetings, sorting email, setting reminders and playing music.
How is it different from a chatbot?
A chatbot answers questions. Operator does the errand: it reads your texts, calendar and email, works through the steps, and sends or changes things for you. It can also check in every hour with what needs you.
Which apps does it work with?
23 apps and accounts. On your phone: Messages, Calendar, Reminders, Contacts, Photos, Music, Files, Maps, Weather, Location, and opening your other apps. Accounts: Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Google Tasks, Outlook Mail, Outlook Calendar, Slack, Spotify, YouTube, Notion, Canvas and WhatsApp.
Can it send messages on its own?
Yes. Operator can send messages and make changes for you. You choose which apps and accounts it can use, and you can turn any of them off at any time.
Does it work on my Mac?
Yes. Hand off work that lives on your computer, like finishing a deck, and follow it from your phone.
Privacy
What happens to my data?
Everything runs on your phone. We don't store your messages, email, conversations or anything else Operator reads. Read the privacy policy for more.
Is my data used to train AI?
No. We don't train AI on your data.
Does it need the cloud?
No. Operator's AI runs on your phone, and it reads your accounts straight from there.
The beta
How do I get in?
Sign up for the beta below and answer six short questions. When your spot opens, we email you a link to book a 30-minute setup call. We add you to Apple's TestFlight before the call, and on the call we install Operator with you.
Which phones does it work on?
iPhones on iOS 18 or later. There's no Android version yet.
Do I need a Google account?
Yes, you sign in to Operator with Google during the beta. Connecting Gmail or Google Calendar is a separate choice.
